境界としての意識越え

床、壁、屋根があれば建築になる。それで内と外を分け隔てるから、意識するのは大概、内部空間か外部環境である。だから、床、壁、屋根には境界としての性能が要求されるだけだ。

その性能の中には境界としての強度、単に地震や障害から強いことや、雨風を凌げるとか、暑さ寒さを和らげるとか、長い年月でもびくともしない丈夫さなどが含まれる。そして、その性能の中にはデザインも含まれてしまう。

床、壁、屋根は境界として、そこに、目の前にあり、人を、自分を当たり前のように守ってくれる存在になっている。それは、床、壁、屋根で囲まれた場所を安全地帯にしてくれる。

それ以上の意識を床、壁、屋根に持つことがないだろう、それ以上のことは必要としていないから、それでとりあえず十分だからだし、それを満たすだけでも、昨今の異常気象が度々発生する状況ではありがたく思ってしまう。

ただ、日常的に目にする床、壁、屋根が、別の言い方をすれば、シェルターとしての機能を満たしてくれれば十分では勿体ないような気がする。そこには、こちら側の、使う側の、暮らし側の意識次第で、どのような見え方にもなるような気がして、今そこを考えている。

"Exceeding consciousness as a boundary"

If there are floors, walls, and roofs, it becomes an architecture. Because it separates the inside and the outside, it is usually the internal space or the external environment that is conscious. That's why floors, walls, and roofs only require boundary performance.

Its performance includes strength as a boundary, simply being strong from earthquakes and obstacles, surpassing rain and wind, relieving heat and cold, and being strong enough not to be overwhelmed even for many years. And its performance includes design.

The floor, walls, and roof are the boundaries, and they are in front of you, protecting you as you take it for granted. It makes a place surrounded by floors, walls and roofs a safe zone.

There will be no more consciousness on the floor, walls, and roof, and no more is needed, so that's enough for the time being. I'm grateful.

However, the floors, walls, and roofs that I see on a daily basis, in other words, feel that it is not enough if it fulfills the function as a shelter. I feel that it will look like anything depending on the consciousness of this side, the user, and the living side.
