愛おしいもの

触っていて愛おしくなるもの、そのようなもので囲まれる生活がしたくて、そのようなものが無ければ、見つかるまで待って無いままで生活するか、自分でつくるか。

見つかるまで待つ場合は、別の言い方をすると、偶然の出会いによって、自分では気づいていなかったが、自分が前から愛おしいと感じる可能性があったものに気がつくことかもしれない。

自分でつくる場合は、自分が何を愛おしいと思っているのか、明確では無くても、ぼんやりとでもわかってはいて、でもそれが確実にこの世には存在しないから、自分でつくるしかない時である。

自分で手を掛けたものは何でも愛おしいかもしれないが、ただ、そこに精度を求めてしまう、それは自分が建築を生業としているから、ものづくりをしているから、中途半端なものでは心が動かないから。

だから、趣味でつくることは無く、自分でつくる場合も技術が一流の職人にお願いをする。そのような職人と接している時間もまた貴重で、新たな何か、新たな愛おしさに気づかせていただくことが多々ある。

You may love anything you have done yourself, but you just want accuracy, because you are building, you are making things, and you are halfway. Because it doesn't move.

That's why I don't make it as a hobby. The time spent in contact with such craftsmen is also valuable, and I often find myself aware of something new and new love.
