発明的

連続的に、床から丸味を帯びて壁になり、壁が丸味を帯びて天井になる、それは床が反転して天井になる、そのデザインをはじめて見た時、一種の発明に近い驚きがあった。

それは、オランダのユトレヒトにあるレム・コールハースとOMAが設計した『エデュカトリアム』で、ユトレヒト大学の施設である。

床、壁、天井が分節されずに、連続的に繋がっている様は、たぶんおそらく、自然界には存在せず、人がつくり出すイメージでのみ存在することで、ただ、そのイメージすら、今まで無かったので、だから発明的だと思った。

これ以降、発明的な建築に出会った記憶が無い、もちろん、素晴らしい建築にはたくさん出会ったが、なかなか発明的なものは生まれるものでもないのだろう。

ただ、床、壁、天井の関係性には、まだまだ可能性があると考えている。とりわけ壁には発明的な何かを見出したいと考えている。

"Inventive"

Since then, I have no memories of encountering inventive architecture, and of course, I have met many wonderful architectures, but it is unlikely that anything innovative will be born.

However, we believe that the relationship between floors, walls, and ceilings still has potential. Especially, I want to find something inventive on the wall.
