考えあぐねる

フリーカップを制作中、毎朝、豆から挽いてコーヒーを淹れる際に、その日の気分でコーヒーカップを選ぶので、その選択肢のひとつにしようと思って。気分で選ぶ、その楽しさ、身勝手さみたいなものをデザインできたら面白いと。

飲み口の厚みを不連続に変化させ、その日の気分で飲み口を選ぶと、非対称のカップだから、カップの見え方も変わる。気分が直接カップの見え方まで左右する。そして、その非対称な形故に、カップに液体が注がれてはじめて安定して鎮座する。

そのフリーカップ自体は常に不完全であり、使われてはじめて完全な姿を成す。そこでは、物と人の関係性をデザインに取り込みたかった。そうすることが物単体の価値を超えた、人にとっての価値ある物をつくることにつながると考えたから。

さて、それを建築で実現しようと考えている。しかし、人が自身の手中で扱えるデザインと、人のスケールを超えて存在するデザインで、これほど相容れないものかと、建築ではさらに何かが必要だと考えあぐねる。

"Thinking"

If you change the thickness of the spout discontinuously and select the spout according to the mood of the day, the appearance of the cup changes because it is an asymmetric cup. The mood directly affects how the cup looks. And, because of its asymmetric shape, the liquid is poured into the cup, and the liquid is stably settled.

The free cup itself is always imperfect, and will only be complete when used. There, I wanted to incorporate the relationship between things and people into the design. I thought that doing so would lead to creating something valuable for people, beyond the value of the substance alone.

Well, I'm thinking about realizing that with architecture. However, he argues that there is something more needed in architecture, whether designs that people can handle in their own hands and designs that exist beyond the scale of humans are so incompatible.
