素材と人とスケール

素材それ自体は形を持たないから、スケールもない。素材に形を与えることを「ものづくり」というが、建築でも家具でも陶磁器でも何でも皆それは同じだろう、そうすると「ものづくり」とは素材にスケールを与えることともいえる。

素材がスケールを持つことは、そこに人との関係性が生まれることである。素材が形を持てばスケールを纏うが、そのスケールを認識するのは人であるから、形になっただけでそこに人がいなければ、スケールも存在しないことになる。

そうすると、素材と人がいてはじめてスケールが生まれ、そのスケールは素材が形を纏った時にわかり、その形をつくるのは人である、という相互に密接な関係性があることがわかる。

"Materials, people and scales"

Since the material itself has no shape, there is no scale. Giving shape to a material is called "manufacturing," but it is the same for architecture, furniture, and ceramics, so it can be said that "manufacturing" gives a scale to a material.

When a material has a scale, it creates a relationship with people. If the material has a shape, it wears a scale, but since it is the person who recognizes the scale, if there is no person there, the scale does not exist.

Then, the scale is born only when there is a material and a person, and the scale is known when the material takes a shape, and it is understood that the person who makes the shape has a close relationship with each other.
