自律的多様性

居る場所によって印象が変われば、その建築は他律的といって良いだろう。どこに居ようと、何をしていようと建築から受ける印象が同じならば自律的な建築になる。自律的な建築は空間の強度が高く、何をしても空間に変化が起きない。

ただ、何をしても受け入れてしまい何も変わらない建築もある。一見それは自律的な建築のようだが、むしろそれは多様性がある建築といった方がしっくりくる。何でも許容できてしまう強度がある。

空間の強度が高い自律的な建築は見ていて美しく、惹かれるものがある。THE建築と思わせる。だが、社会の中で建築を考えた場合は、何をしても受け入れてしまう、何でも許容できてしまう強度が必要になる。だから、自律的多様性がある建築をつくりたいといつも考えている。

"Autonomous diversity"

If the impression changes depending on where you are, you can say that the architecture is heteronomous. No matter where you are or what you are doing, if the impression you get from architecture is the same, it will be an autonomous architecture. In autonomous architecture, the strength of the space is high, and no matter what you do, the space does not change.

However, there are some architectures that accept whatever you do and nothing changes. At first glance, it looks like an autonomous architecture, but it's more like a diverse architecture. It has the strength to tolerate anything.

Autonomous architecture with high strength of space is beautiful to see and attractive. It makes me think of THE architecture. However, when considering architecture in society, it is necessary to have the strength to accept anything and tolerate anything. Therefore, I always want to create an architecture with autonomous diversity.
