周辺環境のコンテクストに対して少しでも能動的な対応をとるためにはどうしたらよいかと考えるきっかけは、隣地が事業用地で鋼板の目隠しで仮囲いされることになり、そのために新しく建てる建築が周りからほとんど見えなくなってしまうことだった。

建築が周りからほとんど見えなくなることは、周辺環境に埋没し存在していないことと同じであり、同時に建築側から見れば、周辺環境との断絶が起こっており、コンテクストの影響が無いことであり、受動的にコンテクストを受け入れることもできない状況である。

ただそれでも周辺環境のコンテクストは現に存在する訳だから、コンテクストに接続するための能動的な対応を考える必要がある。そうしないとその敷地にその建築が存在する必要すら無くなってしまう。

However, since the context of the surrounding environment still exists, it is necessary to consider an active response to connect to the context. Otherwise, the building wouldn't even have to exist on the site.
