コンテクストの変化に対応する

周辺環境のコンテクストの何に焦点を当てるのか、例えば、歴史なのか、それとも現在から未来なのか、時間軸で考えることは必要になる。コンテクストを意識しなくても、設計する時に建築を時間軸で考えるが、時間軸で何を考慮するかというと「変化」であり、建築の耐久性からくる劣化などの経年変化はもちろんだが、住宅でいえば家族構成の変化、もっと大局的に観て社会情勢の変化などがある。

周辺環境の変化は、コンテクストとして、設計する時に考慮すべき最重要事項である。変化に対応できるようにプラン上で工夫をする。それは受動的な対応であり、周辺環境のコンテクストを受け入れざるをえない建築の宿命でもある。それをもう少し能動的に対応できるようにすることはできないかと考えている。
