新しい結び目

この程度だろうという予想を越えるために、既存の関係を結びつきから解きほぐして、新たなに結び直す作業をしている。建築が建て替わる際のエネルギーは相当なものだといつも思う。0から構想するエネルギーもそうだが、現状を一旦0にするにも相当なエネルギーが必要だし、0から完成させるのにも相当なエネルギーがいる。また、元あった建築は決して単体で成り立っていた訳では無く、周辺との関係も簡単に切れないほど結びついている。だから、0にするために相当なエネルギーが必要なのだが、新たに完成後もただ新しくなっただけでは元の関係は戻らないどころかエネルギーが必要だった分、新旧でアンバランスになる。新しくするということは新しい結び目をつくることであり、それは今までの関係性の延長には無いものだと考えた。

"New Knot"

In order to exceed the expectation that it will be at this level, we are working to untie the existing relationships and reconnect them to new ones. I always think that the energy when a building is rebuilt is considerable. It's the same with the energy to envision from 0, but it takes a lot of energy to turn the current situation into 0, and it takes a lot of energy to complete it from 0. In addition, the original architecture never stood alone, and the relationship with the surroundings was so connected that it could not be easily cut off. Therefore, a considerable amount of energy is required to bring it to 0, but even if it is newly completed, simply renewing it will not restore the original relationship, and the energy required will create an imbalance between the old and the new. To renew means to create a new knot, and I thought that it was not an extension of the existing relationship.
